TPR and FANTASY
TPR for Fantasy: Unlocking the Winning Edge
Fantasy Football is a game of inches, and the winning edge lies where others aren't looking: The Trenches.
TrenchPowerRating (TPR) gives fantasy owners the deeper, predictive information they need to help dominate every weekend and secure the championship.
The TPR Advantage: Realistic Scoring Expectations
TPR helps you understand "what's in front of them"—literally. We quantify the direct impact of the Offensive Line on your skill players and the Defensive Line they face.
-
Elevate Your Ceiling: Is your running back facing a D-Line with a poor Run-Stop TPR? Start him with confidence. That match-up suggests a high ceiling for rushing yards and TDs.
-
Mitigate Your Risk: Is your wide receiver's O-Line playing poorly against an elite Pass-Rush D-Line? Adjust your expectations. A dominant opposing TPR can mean fewer opportunities and lower scores for your key players.
Example: You notice an opposing D-Line has only allowed two Rushing Touchdowns through Week 7. That high-performing TPR signals that ground scores will be scarce this weekend, tempering expectations for even your best RB. Conversely, if a D-Line's TPR shows it consistently bleeds yards on the ground, that's your cue to find the opposing RB and plug them into your lineup.
Actionable Content Published Weekly
We share out TPR match-ups for each week during the season and fantasy owners appreciate and value 1) the unique nature of TPR analysis and 2) how it helps them make more informed decisions on who to start, sit, pick up or drop. So whether it’s Weekly fantasy roster start or sit advice, waiver wire pick ups, free agent targets, roster drops/additions, trade value/advice or our specialty weekly deep dive on sleeper D/ST’s to consider, fantasy owners have come to appreciate the edge that TPR gives them. It’s not a slam dunk but it’s the next best thing is what we’ve heard from our readers.
As for TPR and Daily Fantasy, while we’re not in the business of projecting daily fantasy scoring by position, knowing the trench match-up helps DFS players have a more realistic expectation for what their rosters are going to generate. We produce week-by-week assessments for every game and break it down by O-Line and D-Line so you’ll know strength of opponent and where it comes from – is it the O-Line or D-Line that’s the element driving the match-up.
So whether it’s FanDuel, DraftKings, ESPN, Yahoo Fantasy Football or with the NFL, knowing the trenches, and what’s in front of you and your roster, helps you make better and smarter decisions on who to start, sit, bench or trade each and every week. People who are active in player props and multi-team parlays also find TPR helpful since TrenchPowerRating is more correlated with actual game outcomes than traditional fantasy scoring system.
We don’t make any claims about TPR and spreads yet because that’s work we’ve not been able to get to this season and hope to spend time on that in the off season so we can weigh in on how the ‘TPR match-up gap’ relates to points and point differences.
The other thing we do is that we publish a really unique and innovative view on ‘Strength of Schedule’ that people have found interesting and helpful to assess what lies ahead. This ‘TrenchSoS’ is based on the TPR’s of the D-Line that teams are facing for the rest of the season so you’ll know if your team’s O-Line is facing a unit that gives up a ton on the ground or in the air, or if 1st downs, let alone touchdowns, are going to be hard to come by..
