ABOUT US
Let’s get under the hood to see how the Trench view of the game helps, enlightens and ‘opens up the rest of the game’ that’s overlooked — until now.
Just as MLB has OPS and WAR, and the NFL has QBR. We can now look at The Trenches with TPR.
TPR is a rating and performance indicator, looking at the play of the O-Line, D-Line and Kicking Game, and opens up a part of the game that’s been hard to get a handle on. We also know TPR and Trench performance helps make better decisions for Fantasy Team Owners and correlates with actual Wins & Losses.
We leave individual grades (which the players HATE by the way!) to the other sites and we look at the game the way an Offensive/Defensive Coordinator would. We calculate the TPR by scoring the Trench Units reflecting game elements that truly matter.
TPR looks at both positive stats and negative stats to come up with our Plus/Minus, and we then calculate the final TPR with the average indexed to 100. That gives us the TPR for each Trench Unit for each week and over the course of the season. From analytics we’ve done on the past 5 seasons across all games, the TPR is quite fluid in Week’s 1-5 and ‘settles’ down by Week 6.
We’d love to send you our weekly updates from The Trenches that will include TPR’s for O-Line, D-Line, and likely to include Kicking later in the season.
A Look Back at How We Got Here
Our simple premise for Trenches 1.0 was to bring in what’s left out of fantasy today. Our effort to ‘open up the rest of the game’ to fantasy football led to our unique scoring algorithm focused on team ‘units’ in the trenches rather than individual players. As we developed the game, we received great feedback from players and media. Even the bible of sports themselves, Sports Illustrated, called Trench a game changer and featured us in a ‘fantasy sports’ column.
Partnering with “Trench Legends” in 2009
This was the unexpected part.
Because of our approach to the game, we found ourselves talking to some of the best who ever stepped on the field. They LOVED that anyone took the time to think about what their positions were responsible for let alone try to incorporate a Trench view into the fantasy sports dialog. The enthusiasm of our Trench Ambassadors spoke volumes and both mirrors and amplifies what the average sports fan feels.
Trench Today
In 2025 and beyond, Trench is not a fantasy game. We are a unique insights engine.
We all love our home teams. We love to see them win and dominate. And we all love to discuss the details. The view from the Trenches arms you with that insight.
Game on!

As a 6'3" kid from the West Coast and a diehard Raider fan, my appreciation for the Trenches was inevitable. My joy is in bringing this view to you. Let's start a movement since the "big fellas" dictate the game and deserve the attention.
